Patient and Consumer Safety

The safety and well-being of patients and scientific responsibility is to collect, process and evaluate safety information and inform authorities, Health Care Professionals, patients and consumers of relevant information promptly. Any colleague who becomes aware of an Adverse Event, product quality issue or any other human safety concern relating to any of our products or devices must report it immediately in compliance with our policies.

Our Expectations

  • We are all accountable for patient and consumer safety.
  • We are responsible for internally reporting potential adverse events within 24 hours of becoming aware of the situation.
  • Our medical and clinical experts review all reports of potential adverse events.
  • We comply with the health authorities’ requirements for reporting adverse events.

Access to Medicine

The prices we set for our medicines reflect the value they deliver to patients, payors and society and support broad access for patients while ensuring our ability to carry out our mission. We recognize the different economic realities of individuals and countries with flexibility to use different pricing approaches.

We understand some patients may face financial obstacles that can keep them from obtaining the prescription products they need. We are committed to providing access to medications through our Patient Assistance programs.

At times, we interact with patients, patient organizations and consumers to understand their experiences. We also respect that medical and eyecare professionals are a patient and consumer source for disease treatment information and care.
